Experience the uniqueness of a desert oasis, while learning new skills, pushing your physical limits and having the time of your life.
This program is offered February though November in the deep and forested canyon of the Santa Clara river gorge. Standing on the edge of the Great basin desert and rappelling into a lush forest and stream environment is one of the most unique experiences imaginable. Walking down the face of a cliff leaving the harsh and brittle sagebrush behind, soft leaves part and reveal a rushing stream and verdant vegetation.
Once inside this mini refuge, professional climbing instructors demonstrate rock climbing techniques and how to use the climbing shoes that are provided. Routes of various levels of difficulty are available, allowing for participants with a wide range of aptitudes. Each route attempted brings new experience and confidence. Our goal is for each guest to experience both the beauty of moving on the stone, as well as to realize their capabilities far exceed their perceptions.
A top out route brings us back into the Great Basin, and another chance to rappel, and use the gravity that we have been fighting. At the foot of the rappel, a forest path leads through the dense woods to a brief hike to the top of the zip line.
Uniqueness is the theme of this program, and the zip line is no exception as you fly over the top of the spring fed swimming pool and restaurant of the Veyo resort. This cliff to cliff zip line deposits you at the top of the opposite side of the canyon, where a final rappel lands you at the edge of the river.
