For families with kids it can be difficult to keep children entertained in the southern Utah summer in mid-day. Being outside that time of day can be grueling and even a bit dangerous unless you are playing in the water. Luckily, there are a number of splash pads in Saint George and its smaller surrounding cities. Splash pads are concrete pads about the size of a basketball court with creative fountains shooting up out of the floor and showering down from above. Some of them even have water cannons for water fights, buckets that fill and then tip over and dump onto an unsuspecting kid. Children love pushing the buttons that activate these fun parks and discovering which fountains turn on in which pattern. Half of the fountains turn on, then after a few minutes, they shut off and the other half turn on. Most of these splash pads are actually part of larger parks with fields and playgrounds. These splash pads can be a life saver when there is little else to do outside on those hot summer days.
Seasons: These Splash Pads typically start operating around early April and run until September when the cities shut off the water due to the cold season.
