700 Degree Artisan Pizza
It seems bold for a pizza joint to use “Artisan” in the name of their restaurant. Well 700 Degree Artisan Pizza certainly does not disappoint. Even the outside of the building is bold with a bright red exterior and a black awning; it sticks out like a sore thumb on Sunset Ave. The rustic interior reminds me of a trendy restaurant you might find in Brooklyn, New York. There is wood everywhere you look which really accents the wood-fired oven kind of vibe. Big windows along most of the walls utilize the sunlight St. George is so well known for. I was immediately shown to a table and provided with both the food and drink menus. Their draft list consists of almost solely local brews, their wines are all from California, and they have a decent hi-point bottled beer selection as well. They have many custom pies to choose from but if pizza isn’t your thing, their wings are supposed to be pretty good and they have sandwiches and salads to choose from as well. I ordered quickly and it took almost no time for the pizzas to come out! The crust was thin but soft, perfectly blackened on the bottom and once folded in half it supported the plethora of toppings very well. The cheese was delicious, plentiful, and perfectly stretchy. The flavors were excellent and the portion size of the small pizza was great for a strong appetite. Overall, the ambiance was unique, the service was excellent, and the food was exquisite. I would definitely like to go back and try more of their menu. A solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.
