No guide services can take you here, but we can get you there.
The left fork of North Creek is known as the Subway for the nearly tunnel like aspect that the walls of this slot canyon have developed from centuries of flash flooding.
This is backcountry Zion national park at it very best. Pristine, lush, and remote this program requires a high degree of self reliance, stamina and preparation.
The National Park Service prohibits all commercial guiding of this route, which is where this program comes in.
Our Subway program will give you a full day of instruction on backcountry travel, anchor evaluation, rappelling and dealing with the specific obstacles that you will encounter in the Subway itself. We provide you extensive training, equipment and materials to allow you to do this canyon on your own the next day. This program features:
-6-7 hours of private instruction with an emphasis on hands on experience in a real world environment.
-All required technical equipment (harness, gloves, rope, rappel device, helmet)
-All necessary dry bags, dry packs, first aid kits, survival supplies.
-Wetsuits for cold water swims suggested even in mid summer.
-Maps, guides and photographs of the route.
-You will obtain your own permits for the Subway available at: www.zionpermits.nps.gov
If you have some previous canyoneering experience and feel that you only need a brief refresher along with all the equipment and logistical support we also offer a version of this program with only 2 hours of refresher instruction.
